Transkei Post Culture of Xhosa People

TRANSKEI POST (now South Africa) in 1984 issued a series of first day cover stamps dedicated to the indigenous people (Xhosa) of South Africa. The stamps featured traditional dress, dance, ceremonies and trades. Seventeen maximum cards with stamps and postmarks from different towns depicted these cultural characteristics of the Xhosa.

The Xhosa are a Nguni ethnic group in Southern Africa whose homeland is primarily within the modern-day Eastern Cape.
