The festival of Heiva i Tahiti has existed since 1881, making it one of the oldest events in the world. Heiva is the most popular and important happening in the cultural calendar of The Islands of Tahiti. It's a colourful celebration of traditional chants, music and dancing, in a competition which brings together dance troupes from every corner of French Polynesia.
