BELGIE POST on 7 April 1979 issued a set of stamps commemorating the 25th anniversary of the monument in Breendonk (Belgium) This black/orange postage stamp carried a face value of 6 Belgian franc. The designers were Charles Leclercqz (Engraver) | Idel Ianchelevici (Designer). A photogravure and recess printing method was used to produce 4,000,000 stamps.

This maximum card, with said affixed stamp, shows the National Memorial statue at Fort Breendonk.

The inauguration of this bronze statue, entitled "The Resistance" by sculptor and draftsman Idel Ianchelevici, took place on 25 April 1954. The work was installed in front of the National Memorial at Fort Breendonk, a former "Auffanglager" located in Willebroek, Belgium. The statue sits on a high natural stone pedestal, weighs five tons and is more than four meters high. This monument does not include the names of imprisoned war victims.
