Deutsche Reichspost "Berliner Weihnachtsmarkt"

DEUTSCHE REICHSPOST postcard depicted a "Berliner Weihnachtsmarkt" (Berlin Christmas Market) with prominent Nazi swastika banners, indicating the political climate of the time, specifically in 1936. It demonstrates how the regime integrated its ideology and symbols into public life and traditional events like Christmas markets.

The two Deutsche Reichspost stamps affixed to the postcard were part of the "Winterhilfswerk" series of modern buildings and construction during the early 1930s in Germany.

Stamps shown on the postcard:

- Ministry of Aviation in Berlin, 4pf + 3pf (German Pfennig)

- Reichsautobahn -- "München-Reichsgrenze" autobahn route between Munich and the German border, 3pf + 2pf (German Pfennig)

Special cancellation postmark originated from Berlin and highlighted  the Berliner Weihnachtsmarkt (Berlin Christmas Market) on 13 December 1936.

DISCLAIMER: Posted for educational purposes. I neither support nor believe in the Nazi ideology, nor do I seek to perpetrate it. With this posting I merely wish to show one of the ways -- stamps -- that this evil regime spread and sustained itself amongst its citizenry. One needs to understand the history of that era, but of late it seems people have learned nothing and are repeating that horrendous past.
