ROYAL MAIL on 14 June 2011 issued a First Day Cover commemorating the centenary of Reverend Wilbert Awdry, the creator of Thomas the Tank Engine. The FDC featured a set of six stamps depicting Thomas and his friends. It included stamps of Thomas, James, Daisy, Toby, and Gordon. Postmark commemorated the "Centenary of Rev. W. Awdry", showing an illustration of a bridge or archway, which is likely the Box Tunnel entrance. The text "BOX NR BATH, SOMER" indicated the location of the post office where the cancellation occurred, which is Box, near Bath, in Somerset, England.
