ÖSTERREICH POST on 29 June 1955 issued a 1 S. + 25 G. denomination surtaxed stamp to publicise Returning Prisoners of War (Heimkehrer). The surtax benefited returning prisoners of war and the families of prisoners not yet released.
The design features a representation of "industry" welcoming a returning prisoner of war.
