EGYPT issued on 1st January from 1888 to 1906 a series of definitive stamps depicting the Sphinx in front of Cheops pyramid. They were designed and printed by De la Rue of London, using the typography print method. The cancellation postmark on these stamps appears to be on 13 December 1908. The postcard itself shows camels resting as men stop for prayer in the Egyptian desert. Photographers Maison Bonfils (Beirut, Lebanon) created/published it between 1867 and 1899. There are various publications available either in black & white or colourised photos.
