NIPPON POST on 20 August 1958 issued a First Day Cover stamp featuring a Dado-Okesa Dancerwith Sado-Yahiko National Park, which is a quasi-national park in Niigata prefecture, Japan. This stamp is affixed to a maxim card.
A total of 59 types of quasi-national park stamps were issued over a 15-year period from 1958 to 1973, 41 times, and the first stamp was issued for Sado Yahiko Yoneyama Quasi-National Park in Niigata Prefecture.
The first quasi-national park established in Japan (1950) was the Sado Yahiko Yoneyama Quasi-National Park consists of the Yahiko, Yoneyama and the Sado areas.
There were two types of special stamps for Sado Yahiko Yoneyama Quasi-National Park: one with the designs of ``Mt. Yahiko and Echigo Plain'' and the other with ``Sotokaifu Coast and Sado Okesa" (shown here).
