"Signs of the Zodiac" (1896) was originally designed as a calendar for the Champenois lithograph workshop. It was purchased by Leon Duchamp of Plume Art Publishers, and sold as a calendar for "La Plume" magazine, which became very popular. The profile of a beautiful woman, her long hair was highlighted by line drawings, the zodiac constellations placed in a circular frame surrounding, and a pattern of laurel leaves and ivy wrapped around the outside of the frame like a picture frame. The circular decoration, which resembles a woman's halo, is depicted in a harmonious composition that is known as the Mucha style, and is said to be one of the most complete of his many works.
