La Poste France 1oth Anniversary of the Liberation of Deportation Camps

LA POSTE FRANCE on 25 April 1955 issued a First Day Cover stamp marking the 10th Anniversary of the Liberation of Deportation Camps in France. The designer/engraver was Albert Decaris. A total of 2,500,000 stamps were printed. An Intaglio printing method was used.

In 1940, when the Vichy government was installed, these camps were used to intern Jews, Gypsies, and various political prisoners (anti-fascists from all countries).
