Paraguay Luposta 77 Berlin

 

PARAGUAY on 6 September 1977 issued a set of eight First Day Cover stamps to commemorate the International Airmail Exhibition "Luposta 77" that was held in Berlin. The stamps highlighted the first Graf Zeppelin flights to South America in the 1930s. The  countries represented included: German women in traditional costmes, Uruguayan gaucho breaking a bronco, Paraguayan bella bottle dancer, Argentinian gaucho, Mexican bull fighter, Bolivian Indian in Diablo costume, Brazilian Mardi Gras dancer and American Plains Indian on horseback. A special postmark design, featuring zeppelin, balloons and planes, was affixed to the stamps originating from Asuncion, Paraguay.
