CORREOS SAHARA ESPANA issued a set of eight stamps on 30 September 1964. The series was designed by J.J. de Castro. Perforation was 13 x 12 1/2. They were printed in Spain.  The theme appears to have been radio communication of music across the Spanish Sahara. Shown here:

-  25CNTS, 1PTA, a dromedary (one-humped) camel with rider and a microphone with radio waves travelling across the Sahara Desert;

- 50CNTS, 1.50PTAS, 3PTAS,  a dromedary (one-humped) camel  in the background and a young man in traditional attire with flute performing a tune; and

- 70CNTS, 2PTAS, 10PTAS, a young woman dressed in regional clothes and ornaments performing a song on a traditional drum.

Spanish Sahara (Sahara Español in Spanish and الصحراء الإسبانية‎‎ — As-Sahrā’a Al-Isbānīyah in Arabic), officially the Overseas Province of the Spanish Sahara (Provincia Ultramarina del Sahara Español and إقليم الصحراء الإسبانية ما وراء البحار), was the name used for the modern territory of Western Sahara when it was occupied and ruled as a territory by Spain between 1884 and 1975. Spanish Sahara lay between Mauritania and Morocco and bordered Algeria to the northeast. Under UN pressure, Spain eventually relinquished its colonial claim in 1976.
