LA POSTE FRANCE issued a series of stamps in 2014 entitled “The '50s”. This post-war period in France was tremendously optimistic. It was a time of joyfulness and carefreeness. Economic prosperity was changing the way of life for the French. The country was becoming more modern. Six themes were chosen to illustrate this period in postage stamps, namely “the automobile”, “the advertisement”, “the holidays”, “the cinema”.
