REPUBLIK INDONESIA POST on 15 January 1962 first issued six stamps featuring scenes from the Ramayana Ballet. The stamps depicted various characters and scenes from the Sendratari Ramayana (Ramayana Ballet), a highly stylised dance that visually represents the epic Ramayana.
This is a traditional Javanese dance drama that narrates the epic story of Prince Rama's quest to rescue his wife, Sita, from the demon king Ravana.
The set included denominations of RP.1, RP.1.50, RP.3, and RP.5, as well as 40 sen and 30 sen.
This cover was postmarked in 1963 and posted to Haarlem, Holland.
