Saarland Red Cross 1956

SAARLAND on 7 May 1956 issued a  First Day Cover featuring the Red Cross symbol and a stamp related to the organisation's humanitarian work. A prominent red cross symbol with the German text "Der Mensch sei hilfreich und gut," meaning "Man should be noble, helpful and good", emphasising the Red Cross's mission of aid and goodwill. A 15 Saarland stamp depicting a scene related to humanitarian assistance,  showed people helping others in a time of need. A circular cancellation mark with the date "07.5.56-10" and the location "SAAR" and "Erstted," indicated the first day of issue in the town of Saarbrücken.
