DEUTSCHE BUNDESPOST BERLIN on 11 October 1982 issued a First Day Cover stamp commemorating Carl Gotthard Langhans (1732-1808), a prominent German architect known for his neoclassical designs, including the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
The building depicted on this stamp and maximum card (postcard) is the Theatre Building (Theaterbau) at the western end of Charlottenburg Palace, which was commissioned by Frederick William II in 1788.
Since September 2022, this building has housed the Käthe Kollwitz Museum, which moved from its previous location in Fasanenstraße.
