POSTES AFGHANISTAN issued in 1951 a series of definitive stamps, depicting King Mohammed Zahir Shah, who reigned from 1933 to 1973. Additionally, this cover included a series of historic landmarks of Afghanistan, also issued in 1951. The historic landmarks on this cover depicted the Minaret of Jam, Goharshad Mausoleum in Herat and Khodja Abu Pasar Mosque at Balkh. Postmark cancellation on this cover originated from Kaboul, dated. 27 July 1955. These specific stamps were printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited in London.
