Poste Vaticane 450th Anniversary of St. Sir Thomas More

POSTE VATICANE  450th Anniversary on the Death of St. Sir Thomas More, issued in 1985. Three stamps of different monetary denomination and a gold embossed trim around the Hans Holbein portrait of Thomas More comprise this First Day Cover. It was purchased from stamp collector in the US. 

 

I purchased this First Day Cover insomuch as Thomas More is a personal hero of mine. I do not share his ideals and beliefs, They were his and of his time in England. I merely admire his audacity to stand by his faith even when it meant risking his life. Ultimately, it did when he was beheaded.
