DEUTSCHE POST in 1993 and 1994 issued First Day Cover stamps showing the traditional folk costumes (tracht) of Germany.

The village costumes from the 1993 set included those from Ruegen, Schwalm, Foehr, Oberndorf and Ernstroda.

The village costumes from the 1994 set include those from Bueckeberg, Halle an der Saale, Minden, Hoyerswerda and Betzingen. The postmark used on this set of stamps depicts the unmarried woman's headdress (Bollenhut) from the Black Forest villages of Gutach, Kirnbach and Hornberg-Reichenbach.
